In an age of digital cartography, satellite imagery and GPS, mapmaking seldom involves walking and looking. This huge technological shift allows for new possibilities when using traditional forms such as pencil and gessoed panel in the landscape. And recent developments in consumer robotics makes room for other ways of producing mechanical-human hybrid works – in fact, many of these drawings are collaborations with a drawing robot.
